Singing At The Edge Of The World

In his play, Singing At The Edge Of The World , Rutherford chronicles his folk singer days in Alaska in the 70s when he was a budding musician, who's deeply in love and discovers he's losing his hearing.   Will he destroy all that he holds dear or will he find a way to sing.

My Brother Sang Like Roy Orbison

With his trademark mix of music and life, which reviewers have hailed as "moving", "poignant" and "hilarious", Rutherford "paints a compelling picture" and creates a memorable cast of characters in this autobiographical play.
"Moving … laugh-out-loud funny … and memorable. This is not a Fringe play you'll forget the minute you've left the venue. Rutherford's a gifted and involving storyteller who can hold an audience in the palm of his hand." - Dean Jekinson CBC Radio Winnipeg

Weaverville Waltz

Rutherford subtly conveys youth’s angst and triumphs in this engrossing account of his childhood and early teens, growing up in the 1950s and early 60s in small town USA. Randy, a pipsqueak Romeo from the wrong side of the tracks dreams of whisking the Homecoming Queen away on the handle bars of his royal blue Schwinn Flyer, while at home in the Whispering Pines Trailer Court he longs to rescue his mother from his jealous, hard-drinking stepfather.
There’s humor, nostalgia, and suspense in the details of their lives together, conveyed with unflinching love.

One Frigid Shiny Knight

An Arctic Romance, chronicles Rutherford's early manhood in 1970s Anchorage, Alaska during the oil boom.   As a budding folksinger he becomes entangled in a romantic triangle.   "I idolized my guitar teacher.   I absolutely worshipped the guy.   I swear I never would have made a move on his girlfriend if he hadn't suggested it.   It's not my fault!"

This May Feel A Little Funny

The Hummingbird woman is sexually wild, never aging, asparkling bit of light: first here, now there. In pursuit of her, Randy experiences, up close and personal the strange ways of California's alternative life.   Together they run smack dab into the fountain of youth, or pretty darn near it.
